Municipal Boundary Extension Application

Town of Kensington

Pursuant to Subsection 12(1) of the Municipalities Act R.S.P.E.I. 1988, Cap M-13, the Town of Kensington has applied to the Minister of Community and Cultural Affairs to extend the Town's municipal boundary to include parcel numbers 78329, 79236, 918771 and 914689 as outlined below:

The application states that the reasons for the expansion are:

The Town of Kensington has purchased parcel numbers 78329 and 79236 for the purpose of well field protection and these properties will be maintained as a forest and field area. The Province of Prince Edward Island has acquired parcel numbers 918771 and 914689 to be maintained as a public forest. The Town of Kensington considers it desirable to bring these properties within the Town's boundaries.

PUBLIC HEARING

In accordance with Section 13 of the Municipalities Act, the Island Regulatory and Appeals Commission has been directed by the Minister of Community and Cultural Affairs to conduct a public hearing in or near the area to be annexed for the purpose of reviewing the application.

The public hearing will be held in the Council Chambers of the Kensington Town Hall, 55 Victoria Street, commencing at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 23, 2007. Residents of the Town and any person affected by the application are invited to attend and make representation concerning the application.
