The application states
that the reasons for the expansion are:
The Town of Kensington has applied to bring two
properties into the Town's boundaries.
Parcel number 668137 was recently purchased by
the Town of Kensington from Oceanview Farms. The Town seeks to
annex this parcel in order to control any future development of this
property and thus ensure orderly planned development of this parcel.
Parcel number 651695 was recently
purchased by the Kensington Enterprise Centre Ltd. (KECL) KECL has
requested that the Town of Kensington annex this property inside the
Town's boundary in order to establish a bio refinery facility within
the Town of Kensington.
PUBLIC HEARING
In accordance with
Section 13 of the
Municipalities Act, the Island
Regulatory and Appeals Commission has been directed by
the Minister of Finance and Municipal Affairs to conduct a public
hearing in or near the area to be annexed for the purpose of reviewing
the application.
The public hearing will be held in the Council
Chambers of the Kensington Town Hall, 55 Victoria Street, commencing at
7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 11, 2010. Residents of the Town, residents of
the area to be annexed and any person affected by the application are
invited to attend and make representation concerning the application.
