IN THE MATTER of an application by the P.E.I. Petroleum Marketer’s Association Inc. requesting weekly pricing adjustments for petroleum products sold on Prince Edward Island. Notice of Application TAKE NOTICE that the P.E.I. Petroleum Marketer’s Association Inc. has filed with the Island Regulatory and Appeals Commission a request for weekly pricing adjustments. BACKGROUND In its submission dated July, 2008, the P.E.I. Petroleum Marketer’s Association Inc. states that “marketers are at the mercy of the global market in terms of product cost, but often find themselves unable to market the product in a regulated environment at a price that provides reasonable returns for the considerable effort and investment required to operate this type of business” and that “the Commission’s current policy of reviewing prices twice monthly is not sufficient to address the volatility of petroleum product costs in today’s marketplace”. The Association requests “that the Commission review our request and move to implement this critical change as soon as possible, in time for the upcoming heating season”. COMMISSION AUTHORITY Under Section 2 of the Petroleum Products Act the Commission has the responsibility “to ensure at all times a just and reasonable price for heating fuel and motor fuel to consumers and licensees within the province”; and Under Section 27 “The Commission has general supervision of all wholesalers, wholesaler-retailers and retailers with respect to the pricing of heating fuel and motor fuel, including the authority to regulate the timing and frequency of price changes…..” HOW TO SEE THE APPLICATION A complete copy of the request is available by clicking here (251 KB) PDF*. Any person wishing to obtain a hard copy of the filing can do so by writing to the P.E.I. Petroleum Marketer’s Association Inc. at the address below. In order to be considered, comments must be received by August 1, 2008. Comments provided to the Commission must also be forwarded to the Applicant at the address indicated below.
