PETROLEUM PRICING

Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, September 25, 2008 — The Island Regulatory and Appeals Commission announced today the following petroleum pricing decisions, effective Thursday, September 25, 2008:

  • Gasoline prices will decrease by 5.0 cents per litre (cpl); and

  • There will be no change in furnace oil, stove oil, diesel or propane prices at this time.

Including taxes, pump prices for regular unleaded gasoline at self-serve outlets will now range from 120.2 cpl to 122.3 cpl.

Refining capacity in the U.S. Gulf Coast region is returning to normal with a number of damaged refineries now back in operation. This combined with continued reduced consumption both in domestic and international markets has deflated commodity prices for gasoline.

The Commission's next scheduled price adjustment will be on October 1, 2008.
