PETROLEUM PRICING

Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, April 1, 2009 — The Island Regulatory and Appeals Commission approved the following petroleum pricing decisions, effective 12:01 a.m., Wednesday, April 1, 2009:

  • Gasoline prices will increase by 2.0 cents per litre (cpl);
  • Furnace and stove oil prices will increase by 3.0 cpl;
  • Diesel prices will increase by 3.0 cpl;
  • Propane prices will decrease by 7.1 cpl for Superior Propane, by 4.5 cpl for Irving Energy Distribution and Marketing and by 3.6 cpl for Kenmac Energy Inc.

Including taxes, pump prices for regular unleaded gasoline at self-serve outlets will now range from 84.6 cpl to 86.7 cpl.

Escalating wholesale market prices for petroleum products over the past two weeks, in part relating to a falling U.S. dollar, now necessitates upward adjustments to gasoline, furnace oil and diesel prices on PEI. Improved inventory levels for propane, however, will result in lower commercial and residential propane prices.

The Commission's next scheduled price adjustment will be on April 15, 2009.
