PETROLEUM PRICING

Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, October 6, 2018 The Island Regulatory and Appeals Commission approved the following petroleum pricing decisions, effective 12:01 a.m., Saturday, October 6, 2018:

  • Furnace oil, stove oil and diesel prices will increase by 4.0 cents per litre (cpl); and

  • There will be no change in the price of gasoline or propane at this time.

Including adjustments for taxes, pump prices for diesel at self-serve outlets will now range from 143.6 cpl to 144.8 cpl.

The maximum price for furnace oil will now be 102.6 cpl, plus tax.

Significant increases in the market price of the above referenced petroleum products since the Commission’s last adjustment now necessitate the unscheduled price increases announced today. Seasonally related increased consumption for both furnace oil and diesel have contributed to this situation. Prince Edward Island is not alone in facing such price increases. Adjustments to diesel pump prices in both New Brunswick and Nova Scotia this past week amounted to 4.4 cpl and 5.6 cpl respectively.

The Commission’s next scheduled price adjustment will be on October 15, 2018.
