Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, June 29, 2019 — The Island Regulatory and Appeals Commission approved the following petroleum prices in an unscheduled price adjustment, effective 12:01 a.m., Saturday, June 29, 2019:
Including taxes, pump prices for regular unleaded gasoline at self-serve outlets will range from 122.1 cpl to 123.3 cpl. Pump prices for self-serve diesel will range from 128.8 cpl to 130.0 cpl. Including taxes, the maximum price for furnace oil is 97.8 cpl. A significant rise in petroleum prices on the New York Mercantile Exchange in the past week, high demand, and limited supplies caused by a refinery closure in the US, have contributed to this increase. Gas prices are up all across eastern Canada. This week, prices increased by 6.5 cpl in Nova Scotia; by 5.8 cpl in Montreal; by 6.5 cpl in Ottawa; and by 6.9 cpl in Toronto. As of June 28th, pump prices show Halifax at 117.7; Moncton at 122.1; Montreal at 131.9; Ottawa at 123.1; and Toronto at 124.0 cpl. The national average is 125.3 cpl. The Commission determined that the regularly scheduled July 1st adjustment for gas, furnace oil, and diesel go into effect Saturday, June 29th because of the significant increase in the daily market price of petroleum.
