UW03305 KENSINGTON WATER AND POLLUTION CONTROL CORPORATION APPLICATION TO INCREASE WATER & SEWER RATES & CHARGES TAKE NOTICE that the Kensington Water and Pollution Control Corporation has filed an application for approval to implement metered water and sewer rates, effective January 1, 2009. THE APPLICATION proposes to charge unmetered water customers an annual customer charge of $13.95, plus a combined base and usage charge of $231.58 per unit. Metered water customers will be billed annually a customer charge of $13.95, a base charge of $192.14 per unit, and a usage charge of $1.36 per 1,000 Imperial gallons. Unmetered sewer customers will be charged an annual customer charge of $14.55, plus a combined base and usage charge of $324.23 per unit. Metered sewer customers will be billed annually a customer charge of $14.55, a base charge of $245.06 per unit, and a usage charge of $2.73 per 1,000 Imperial gallons. If approved, the annual residential unmetered water rate will increase from $170.00 per year to $245.53 per year. Residential unmetered sewer rates will increase from $125.00 per year to $338.78. A metered customer consuming 75,000 Imperial gallons and billed 2.0 units per year would see their overall water rate increase from $340.00 to approximately $500.00 and their sewer rate would increase from $250.00 to roughly $709.00 per year. The Utility also proposes to alter its billing frequency from once a year to once a month.
