BORDEN-CARLETON WATER AND SEWERAGE CORPORATION

APPLICATION TO INCREASE WATER AND WASTEWATER RATES & CHARGES

TAKE NOTICE that the Borden-Carleton Water and Sewerage Corporation has filed an application for approval to increase its annual water and sewer rates and charges, effective April 1, 2009.

THE APPLICATION proposes the following:

Single-Family Dwellings (Unmetered Customers)
Annual rates for residential water service will increase from $194.60 to $379.47 per unit per year and sewer rates will increase from $124.48 to $392.11 per unit per year. The combined annual flat rate for residential customers who receive both services will increase from $319.08 to $771.58.

Commercial Customers (Metered Customers)
The Utility is proposing similar increases in metered rates; however, the impact varies depending on the type and size of the metered service and the amount of a customer’s annual consumption.

For example, if approved, a 3/4" metered water customer consuming 500 cubic metres per year would see an increase in rates from $303.60 to $591.52.  Metered sewer rates would increase from $192.52 to $608.20. The impact of the services combined would see the rates go from roughly $496 to $1,210 per year.

Metered customers wishing to know more details on the rate proposal should contact the Utility at the address below.
