Application by Maritime Electric Company, Limited for
approval of amendments to its rates, tolls and charges and
reconsideration of the 2nd block rate elimination.TAKE NOTICE that Maritime Electric Company, Limited ("Maritime Electric" or the "Company") has filed with the Commission:
a) an application for approval of amendments to its rates, tolls and charges; and
b) a request to reconsider the elimination of the 2nd block reduced rate for electricity consumption greater than 2,000 kWh per month.HOW TO SEE THE APPLICATION AND ASK QUESTIONS
A copy of the Company’s initial application and subsequent additional information and request for reconsideration of 2nd block rate elimination can be obtained by clicking here.Any person wishing to pose questions to Maritime Electric on the initial application, the additional information filed and the 2nd block rate elimination may do so by filing their questions, in writing, with the Company on or before Friday, May 7, 2010. Questions posed to Maritime Electric must be answered by the Company, in writing, on or before Friday, May 21, 2010. Copies of both written questions and written answers must be copied to, or filed with, the Commission not later than May 21, 2010.
THE HEARING
HOW TO PARTICIPATE
The public hearing of the application will commence at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, June 14, 2010, in the Commission's Main Hearing Room, 5th Floor, National Bank Tower, 134 Kent Street, Charlottetown, and will continue at such times as will be announced at the hearing.
Any person wishing to make a formal submission to the Commission or to participate in the public hearing is asked to file with the Commission and Maritime Electric, by Friday May 21, 2010, a Notice of Intervention, which concisely states the interest such person has in the application and the reason for his or her intervention. Persons planning to present evidence at the hearing are requested to file copies of written evidence with the Commission and Maritime Electric, by Friday, May 28, 2010.IF YOU WISH TO COMMENT ONLY IN THE HEARING
If you wish, you may comment on issues relating to the application without becoming a formal intervener. Comments may be made orally by appearing at the opening of the hearing on June 14, 2010 and making your wishes known, or by writing a letter to the Commission, prior to the commencement of the hearing, clearly stating your views. While it is not necessary to appear at the hearing, interested parties are encouraged to present their comments in person and be available for questioning so that their evidence can be fairly assessed.Parties or individuals who have provided comments pursuant to the initial public notice of this application and who do not wish these comments considered at the public hearing must provide notice to the Commission by May 21, 2010.
