TAKE NOTICE that Maritime Electric Company, Limited ("Maritime Electric" or the "Company") has filed for the approval of the Island Regulatory and Appeals Commission (the "Commission") the Company’s Energy Efficiency and Demand Side Management ("DSM") Plan, 2015-2020. The Company has filed this plan in consultation with the Commission without the requirement for a Commission Order directing the filing.

BACKGROUND
On December 6, 2013, An Act to Amend the Electric Power Act came into effect in Prince Edward Island. It included amendments to the preamble of the Electric Power Act as follows:

AND WHEREAS public utilities should utilize energy efficiency and demand-side resource measures whenever it is cost-effective to do so;

Maritime Electric's proposed plan is summarized in the following table. It lists the measures that the Company is proposing, the reduction in energy and peak load expected to be realized through each measure, and the estimated implementation cost for each measure.

The maximum annual amount to be recovered through rates is estimated as $1.3 million, which corresponds to 0.65 % of the Company’s annual revenue requirement.  However, based on the Rate Impact Measure benefit cost analyses for the proposed measures, it is expected that the impact on rates will be minimal.

HOW TO COMMENT AND ASK QUESTIONS
Any person wishing to comment on the filing can do so by writing to the Commission at the address below. In order to be considered, comments must be received by Friday, July 10, 2015*. Persons wishing to pose questions to Maritime Electric on the filing may do so by sending their questions, in writing, to the Company on or before Friday, June 19, 2015. Questions posed to Maritime Electric must be answered by the Company, in writing, on or before Friday, July 3, 2015. Copies of both written questions and written answers must be copied to, or filed with, the Commission not later than Friday, July 10, 2015 in order to be considered.
*Note: The Commission has extended the deadline for public comments to September 30, 2015.


All questions posed and comments provided related to this application will be made available on the Commission's website at www.irac.pe.ca.

A public hearing will not be held unless the Commission determines a hearing is necessary. If there is a public hearing, a Notice of Hearing will be published. Otherwise, the Commission will finalize its review in the form of a written Order. All Orders issued in this matter will be posted on the Commission’s website at www.irac.pe.ca.
