MUNICIPAL
BOUNDARY EXTENSION APPLICATION
TOWN
OF KENSINGTON
Pursuant to
Subsection
12(1) of the Municipalities
Act R.S.P.E.I. 1988, Cap M-13, the Town of Kensington has applied to
the Minister of Community and Cultural Affairs to extend its municipal
boundary to include an area adjacent to the present Town boundary.
The area is outlined below:

The
application states that the reasons for the expansion are:
1. To increase the tax base.
2. To Increase the population.
3. To increase amount of area for development, both commercial and
residential, in the Town.
PUBLIC
HEARING
In
accordance with Section 13 of the Municipalities
Act, the Island Regulatory and Appeals Commission has been directed by
the Minister of Community and Cultural Affairs to conduct a public hearing
in or near the area to be annexed for the purpose of reviewing the
application.
The
public hearing will be held in the Cafeteria of the Kensington
Intermediate-Senior High School, 19 Victoria Street East, Kensington at 7:00
p.m. on Wednesday, December 6, 2000 and, if necessary, Wednesday, December
13, 2000. Residents of the Town
and the area to be annexed and any person affected by the application are
invited to attend and make representation concerning the application.

deadline for receipt of written submissions is November 30, 2000.
The
Commission also requests that those who intend to make presentations at the
public hearing notify the Commission of their intention to do so by November
30, 2000.
