TOWN OF MONTAGUE
WATER & SEWER UTILITY

APPLICATION TO IMPLEMENT METERED RATES

TAKE NOTICE that the Town of Montague Water & Sewer Utility has applied to the Commission for approval to implement metered water and sanitary sewer rates, effective April 1, 2001.

THE APPLICATION includes the following proposals: 

• Residential water customers will be charged an annual flat rate of $210.57.   Residential sewer customers will be charged an annual flat rate of $143.93.  If approved, the combined annual flat rate for residential customers within the municipality who receive both services will increase from $290.00 to $354.50. 

• Metered water customers using a 5/8" meter will be charged a monthly base charge of $11.57, plus a consumption charge of $0.29 per cubic metre.  Metered sewer customers using a 5/8" meter will be charged a monthly base charge of $4.77, plus a consumption charge of $0.35 per cubic metre. The combined monthly base charge for 5/8" metered water and sewer customers will be $16.34, plus a consumption charge of $0.64 per cubic metre.

If approved, a 5/8" metered water and sewer customer consuming 55,000 Imperial gallons (250 cubic metres) per annum would see their overall annual rate increase from $290.00  to approximately $356.00.  Other metered customers wishing to know the details on how the rate proposal will impact them should contact  the Montague Town Hall at 838-2528.

The Utility also proposes that customers that have a combined water and sewer charge increase of over 25% (and $100) as a result of this application, will have the increase phased in in equal amounts over four years.
