IN THE MATTER of an application
of Maritime Electric Company, Limited for an amendment to the 1993 Capital Budget for
additional expenditures on Management Information Systems.

Order
WHEREAS Maritime
Electric Company, Limited (the "Company") applied for an amendment to its 1993
Capital Budget to approve an additional $280,000 for expenditures related to Management
Information Systems;
AND WHEREAS the Commission originally approved a $15,000 budget and withheld
approval of any additional expenditures pending the filing and review of a Management
Information System (M.I.S.) Plan for the Company;
AND WHEREAS the Company filed its first formal M.I.S plan with the application outlining
its five year plan for M.I.S. development;
AND WHEREAS
it appears to the Commission that the planned expenditures for 1993 are within the best
interests of the Company and its customers;
NOW THEREFORE,
pursuant to the Island Regulatory and Appeals Commission Act and the Electric
Power and Telephone Act
IT IS ORDERED THAT
1. Additional expenditures related to Management
Information Systems in the amount of $280,000 are approved increasing the total approved
amount for Capital Budget Item G-2 to $295,000 for 1993.
2. The Company shall file annually, as part of its
Capital Budget, a status report on its Management Information Systems summarizing:
- its
accomplishments in the most recent year,
- the changes, if
any, to its five year M.I.S. plan, and
- its proposed
projects for the upcoming year.
