Order: UW12-03

IN THE MATTER of an application by the Alberton Sewage Collection and Treatment Corporation for an increase of wastewater rates and charges.

BEFORE THE COMMISSION

on Wednesday, the 20th day of June, 2012.

Maurice Rodgerson, Chair
Allan Rankin, Vice-Chair
John Broderick, Commissioner

Order

WHEREAS the Alberton Sewage Collection and Treatment Corporation (the "Utility"), by application filed on May 2, 2012, applied to the Commission for an increase in its Tariff of wastewater rates and charges;

AND WHEREAS, specifically, the Utility requested approval to increase its rate from $190.00 per unit, per year to $200.00 per unit, per year, effective July 1, 2012;

AND WHEREAS following receipt of the application, the Commission published a Notice in the local newspaper inviting written comments on the Utility's proposal;

AND WHEREAS the Commission did not receive any written submissions in response to the public notice;

AND WHEREAS the Commission, following a review of the application and the Utility's financial statements, has concluded that recent unanticipated costs have resulted in the need for additional revenue;

AND WHEREAS it further appears to the Commission that the Tariff of Rates and Charges approved herein is necessary and equitable;

NOW THEREFORE, pursuant to the Island Regulatory and Appeals Commission Act and the Water and Sewerage Act

IT IS ORDERED THAT

1. Alberton Sewage Collection and Treatment Corporation's existing wastewater Tariff is revoked and the Tariff appended to, and forming part of, this Order is substituted therefore; and

2. The appended Tariff is approved and declared effective on July 1, 2012 and shall remain in effect until otherwise ordered by the Commission.

DATED at Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, this 20th day of June, 2012.

BY THE COMMISSION:

Maurice Rodgerson, Chair

Allan Rankin, Vice-Chair

John Broderick, Commissioner
