respecting the Georgetown Water Utility.

Order
UPON the
application of the Department of Environment, dated May 27, 1992, for amendments to its
schedule of rates and charges for water services provided by the Georgetown Water Utility
(the "Applicant" or "Utility");
AND UPON reading and considering the Utility's application in this matter as
well as written submissions from Alan Gallant, Chairman of the Georgetown Area Development
Corporation and Bea Mair, an area resident;
AND UPON
considering
the current and forecast financial position of the Applicant as well as the Utility's
proposal not to recover in rates an accumulated deficit to December 31, 1992 that is
estimated by the Applicant to be in excess of $200,000;
AND UPON it
appearing to the Commission that a rate increase is necessary and equitable;
NOW THEREFORE,
pursuant to the Water and Sewerage Act, R.S.P.E.I., 1988, Cap. W-2;
IT IS ORDERED THAT
1. Approval is granted to the Applicant to increase
its rates for water services in accordance with the Tariff appended to, and forming part
of, this order; and
2. the appended Tariff is approved and declared
effective on January 1, 1993 and shall remain in effect until otherwise ordered by the
Commission.
