IN THE MATTER of a review of Maritime Electric's policy for
purchasing electricity from customer owned generation facilities.

Order
WHEREAS the policy of Maritime Electric Company, Limited (the
"Company") for purchasing electricity from customer owned generation facilities
was last reviewed and approved by the Commission in 1985;
AND WHEREAS customer-owned and other non-utility generation
appears to provide an increasingly important source of power throughout North America;
AND WHEREAS it appears to the Commission that a review of the
said policy of the Company is necessary;
NOW THEREFORE, pursuant to the Island Regulatory and
Appeals Commission Act and the Electric Power and Telephone Act
IT IS ORDERED THAT
1. The Company shall file with the Commission the current power
purchase policy identifying, if applicable, any updates or modifications that it may
propose;
2. The Company shall file with the Commission a proposed policy,
including pricing, for purchasing capacity and energy from non-utility generators larger
than 100 kW in capacity; and
3. The above documents shall be filed with the Commission no later
than January 31, 1993.
