Welcome to the Commission

The Commission is an independent quasi-judicial tribunal operating under the authority of the Island Regulatory and Appeals Commission Act. The Commission administers a number of provincial statutes dealing with economic regulation and hears appeals under provincial planning, tax and residential rental property legislation.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Island Regulatory and Appeals Commission is continuing to operate but the office is closed to the public. We acknowledge that delays may occur with hearings and appeals that are scheduled to be heard in the near future. If you have questions about upcoming hearings or appeals, rental matters, or other matters we deal with, please call 902-892-3501 and staff will be able to assist you.

How to contact the Island Regulatory and Appeals Commission, file documents electronically, or make payments while the Commission office is closed to the public.

Appeals are currently being heard remotely. Anyone wishing to observe the proceedings can contact the Commission to make arrangements.

Rental hearings resume. Please note that the Court Order suspending eviction enforcement is still in effect until further notice. Click here for more information.
